“Grants Women” is a concept which allows for a woman to apply for a grant to meet her financial, social, and educational needs. This does not at any point degrade the independent status that women try to build for themselves. Instead, Grants for Women is structured to allow a woman to apply for grants with the purpose that members of the female population can reach objectives/goals which otherwise might have gone unaccomplished.

What are the various sources of grants for women?

It is important for everyone to know that grants for woman work the same way as grants for any other individual or organization. With that said, we can now look at the various sources, and the various purposes of these gender specific foundation grant programs.

· Altrusa International Foundation – Is a program for third world women who are seeking to complete graduate degrees from various colleges in the United States of America can apply for this grant. Reviewed on a rolling basis, once application to the grants is approved, women get a grant amount of $250-$1000. While this amount may seem to be very low, for a female in a third world country, it is a good start towards their education objectives.

· American Association of University Women(AAUW) - AAUW foundation grants are granted to women for support in filing sex discrimination lawsuits. The AAUW Legal Advocacy fund is setup for this specific purpose.

· American Association of University Women (AAUW) Educational Foundation – This entity supports women who seek advancement in their careers and hold a bachelor's degree. Women who are members of the AAUW are special consideration while grants are being provided. Special consideration is also given to women who wish to complete their education in non-traditional fields. The grant amount covers tuition fees, books, supplies and dependant care. The AAUW Educational Foundation provides close to 60 grants to women across two categories – Academic Grants and Professional Development Institute Grants.

· American Legacy Foundation – This entity supports women who desire and are trying to quit smoking. Application for grant projects must comprise of a strong social support component and incorporate cessation materials, themes in the project.

· Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance (AWAM) – AWAM offers several scholarships to women who wish to get educated in the field of aviation. Female students can choose studies from Aviation maintenance to Aviation Technology to avail themselves of this grant.

· Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) – AWM encourages women to get educated and have stable careers in the field of mathematical sciences. This entity promotes equal opportunity and equal treatment of women in mathematical sciences.

Other grants for women or ‘grants women' like Business and Professional Women foundation provide career advancement scholarships to woman already in the work force by providing them with financial assistance for meet their needs of further study as a path to career enhancement/advancement.
